We handle these items "in house" to make it quick, easy, and inexpensive for you to do this. We do not charge any extra design fees above what is already listed, so these items are a really great deal. How should I decide between shiny or matte finishes, crystals or no crystals, size and so on?

When choosing your topper, think of how it will look on the cake in the lighting conditions that will exist at your wedding reception.

If you want surrounding candles or lights to reflect in the topper, the shinier acrylic mirror finish or a brushed metal topper that has crystals might be best. Crystals look best if there is light for them to reflect.

If your room is already bright, you may want to consider a matte finish - brushed metal with partial crystals or without crystals. It's really up to you, but that's food for thought.

Note: It's not difficult to use our do it yourself kits to add crystals. Consider ordering letters that are equal to or a little bit shorter than your top tier's height so that you don't get a "top heavy" appearance.

Do your monogram wedding cake toppers have spikes?

Yes. All cake toppers we offer have spikes that hold them solidly in your wedding cake. For the custom brushed metal monogram cake toppers only, they are removable for use as a display item after the reception is over.

Are both sides of the monogram toppers shiny?

Both sides of the monogram cake toppers have the same finish on both sides with one exception. The acrylic mirror toppers have a grey surface on the back. If the back of your topper will be visible, our custom brushed metal toppers or our other standard toppers are good options.

What are acrylic mirror cake toppers?

About two thirds of our orders for custom toppers over the last couple of years or so have been for acrylic mirror toppers. They offer great value in that they offer custom design and the reflective appearance of much more expensive materials for a fraction of the cost. They are made of a lightweight, transparent, and synthetic material with mirror finish backing. From the front, you look through the clear acrylic surface to the mirrored backing. From normal viewing distance, the topper simply appears shiny and reflective. The acrylic softens the reflection of the mirrored surface, creating a more elegant appearance than if it were just mirrored. Using acrylic also allows for a larger or thicker topper without making the topper too heavy. The reverse side is grey. They do a great job of reflecting light and crystal colors.

Brushed metal toppers have the same finish on both sides. (Brushed metal toppers are also available in both 1/8 inch and 1/4 inch thickness.)

Acrylic mirror is shiny and reflective without distortion, just like any mirror. If you need a softer finish, consider the brushed metal toppers.

While acrylic mirror toppers are offered in gold or silver color mirrored finishes, they do not contain real gold or silver. If you're looking for real gold or silver custom designs, we recommend consulting a custom jeweler. We do have silver and gold plated topper options available in "off the shelf" script and block font styles in our jewelry style toppers section.

Note: Acrylic mirror toppers have been and continue to be a popular item. They offer the shiny appearance of more expensive metals for a fraction of the expense. We do offer shiny silver tone aluminum toppers as well, though not in custom designs.

What is the difference between the acrylic mirror and brushed metal toppers?

• Acrylic mirror toppers are lighter than the metal toppers, though neither is too heavy for any normal wedding cake.
• Custom brushed metal toppers feature removable spikes, while acrylic mirror topper spikes are fixed. Some brides prefer the removable spikes so they can display their monogram letters in a shadow box or on a shelf after the reception.
• Acrylic mirror toppers are shiny and as reflective as a mirror, while brushed metal toppers have a soft or matte finish.
• Acrylic mirror toppers are grey on the back, while brushed metal toppers have the same finish on both sides.
• Acrylic mirror toppers offer the shiny appearance of more expensive metals, for a fraction of the cost. Note: If it's really important that you have real silver or real gold, then acrylic mirror is not what you'll want. See the next question for more on precious metals.

Do you offer real gold/silver plated toppers, precious metals, or other cake jewelry?

After lots of requests, we are now offering some of the nicest cake toppers available. These beautiful cake toppers come in 24k gold plated, silver plated, and shiny silver tone (aluminum) finishes. There is also an option for premium crystal covering on both sides of some toppers. On the store pages, these items include the word “premium” in the product title.

I don’t see the size I’m looking for. Do you offer other sizes?

For our custom cake toppers, yes. For simplicity, we have the site configured to offer the most popular sizes. However, different sizes are available with very minimal difference in cost. Just contact us if you would like a different size and we’ll send you the price difference.

Do you offer different thicknesses?

For the custom cake toppers, yes. Just check the product descriptions for options and price differences. Once you add your topper to the shopping cart, you’ll be able to select the different thickness.

Is there an option for expedited shipping?

While we'd love to offer faster processing, it doesn't allow us to deliver the value and customer service that we take pride in offering. The cost for expedited processing is often as expensive as the topper itself. Additionally, delivering a topper within days of an event leaves no time to provide good customer service if the shipping company damages the item or delays delivery for any reason. If you have at least 4 weeks until your event, there is plenty of time allowed in our current timeline to ship and even provide a replacement if necessary.

With standard shipping, when will I receive my topper?

Custom acrylic mirror toppers ship via Fedex within 15 business days. Custom brushed metal monogram toppers also ship via Fedex within 15 business days. Cake toppers that are not custom made usually ship within 3 to 5 business days. Contact us at any time if you’d like to check your order status.

Are the multiple initial cake topper letters connected?

No, however, you can request this if you’d like. It’s usually best to keep them separate so you can keep your options open when it comes time to display them on your cake. That way, you can adapt to the size of your top tier.

I have a specific design or font I would like to have as a cake topper. Can you do that?

In most cases, yes. If you have a high resolution file of the image, send it to us. If we can convert it into vector format, chances are, it can be cut. We’ll let you know what can be done and for what cost as honestly and as quickly as possible after receiving your request. We do offer custom logo preparation in high resolution format for an additional fee. Just add the custom logo product to your cart and we’ll contact you and go from there.

I'd like to use my cake topper font on other items in my wedding events. Is this possible?

Sure, there are two possibilities. You can order a custom logo through our store and we'll work with you to provide a high resolution file in vector format (the format preferred by most vendors) and/or PDF format as you desire. You can then take that to the vendor of your choice to get custom products made (aisle runners, invitations, stencils, etc.) You can also use it on printable stationery.

We also offer lots of products on this site that allow you to pick a custom font for use on various items. These options are growing all the time so check back regularly for those.

How can I use my topper after the reception?

There are a number of display options (cases, stands, boxes) that people use to display their toppers after the wedding day. Contact us via email, chat, or phone, and we'll be happy to share the details.

My cake topper was damaged during shipping. What should I do?

Though the toppers are packaged well in protective foam and sturdy boxes, it is possible that anything can be damaged during shipping. Custom cake toppers can be replaced free of charge for incorrect personalization or damage. Just contact us for assistance.
